Just my life and my musings. Everything I find beautiful or amazing or intriguing. Everything that's filling my head. |
What a stressful end to the semester, but it’s done!
Got a new iPhone 4, the white one - very chic, love it. I’m using it as an impetus to update this thing more, also got a Twitter (LeejaMiller) so that’s rad.
This summer is the summer of self-improvement. Things I’ll be doing: - getting FIT! • this means I’m gonna lose 10 pounds, go on runs, lift weights, eat healthier (I recently went Vegan) - clear skin: I just started Accutane a month and a half ago, so my skin is finally, slowly, clearing up (thank god!) - internship: I’ll be working on my interpersonal skills, my work ethic, and my business-casual style; just spent $75 at The Limited today :) SO fun. - music: I sing opera, have for about 7 yrs, then stopped in college. I need to get back into that! Going to work on opera but also pop and jazz stylings. I also want to get better on the guitar. - confidence: with this improvement comes new confidence. I want to up that more. I want to take an improv comedy class this summer to get me more comfortable with myself and other people. Should be fun :)
Yay for summer! Lets get this started :)

This is beautiful
“The Millennial Generation (born 1980-2000) is the largest, most diverse, most open-minded, most tech-savvy, most eco-conscious generation in American history. Millennials are also the most unemployed, in debt and generally screwed over. Despite their desire to contribute to this country’s greatness, Millennials may be the first generation in decades to face worse economic prospects than our parents and even grandparents.” - Van Jones on Huff Post.
Makes me want to do something.
It’s been a while. Talk about a busy month I’ve had.
Well, guess what? My Freshman year will be over in LESS THAN ONE MONTH.

I know, I’m startled too. When did that happen?
Short update of my month:
Went to Spain and Morocco. What an AMAZING experience. I am so much more aware of the world and my perceptions of people. I also feel so much more independent and have much more faith in myself and my directional capabilities.
Went to Power Shift 2011. Seriously, awesomely, and amazingly eye-opening, inspirational, and life-changing. Definitely a highlight of my year and a motivation to start doing the things I’ve been meaning to do for a while.
Became a vegan. So far, so good. I love that I am so much more aware of what I’m putting in my body, instead of mindlessly shoving empty calories from unknown places into there. It has translated into a higher consciousness of the world around me in general.
Went on Accutane. Yes, the mother of all acne medications, this baby has dried me up like a little raisin. However, after only 3 weeks the acne has cleared up significantly, to the point where I am currently sitting in the library (doing ‘work’…) without a single drop of makeup on my face. It’s fabulous. I just have to moisturize more often. Soon I’ll be blemish-free and about has happy as this baby:

Which I think will be pretty awesome.
I think that’s all I have. Hopefully I’ll have some times to update this bad boy, get it up and running again.
Tootles.
12 year old Brittany Smith, a Roanoke-area middle schooler, was kidnapped by her mother’s boyfriend after apparently witnessing him murder her mother earlier this week. They are driving a silver Dodge Neon with Virginia license plate #XKF-2365; if you’ve seen them, please call your local police.

Please reblog!
Guys it only takes a few seconds to reblog, please don’t just scroll past this.
You guys probably think this won’t make their blog look pretty anymore. You’re wrong. It shows you care. Just reblog. Think about how this would make you feel if you were that little girl.

so true!

Went out last night, had a great time, met a cute boy, then got caught and got written up by security :/
I find it strange, the whole act of ‘writing up’ students here. It has really no purpose as most students I know have been written up and at most it’s a light slap on the wrist. What’s the point? Why ruin a perfectly good party and my perfectly delightful conversation with a cute boy just so you can write my name on your little pad of paper and send me off into the cold night? Silly.
That boy was really cute, though. I’m resisting the urge to be creepy and add him on facebook after one 15 minute drunken conversation. I’m going to leave everything up to serendipity. Perhaps we’ll have another encounter tonight or tomorrow or in 3 weeks. If not than it was a nice conversation with a nice boy who was pretty nice to look at. And that’s that.

I love banksy, I consider this artist to be one of the best and brightest alive today. He/she is able to make beautiful, strong, amazing statements through artwork that is made directly available to the public. Instead of painting a canvas to hang in a gallery to sell his/her work and make money and gain fame, he/she values the expression and the message and the pure artistic talent more than anything else. SO great.
